We are very aware that the Forums are running slower these days.

I could get all geeky about it like my Dad, Admin Guy, but I'll try to explain why in plain English: Behind the magic of Tripawd Forums is an extremely complex database that has a lot of options you have come to expect. Balancing these expectations with speed is a constant battle, and as the community grows, so does the demand on the database.

Right now, things are slow but they won't be forever. My Dad is working feverishly, at least 6 hours a day, on trying to boost performance. It will happen, but being a one man technical support show, he can only do his best.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding. If you'd care to add any feedback here about what you are experiencing, go ahead (make his day!), but be nice!

Jerry, we know that your dad is working hard on all the problems and we all appreciate it very much! Whats the old saying ? When life hands you lemons , make lemonade? Well, in the meantime while we wait, maybe we can use the waiting time to reflect on important things in life , that an all to busy life forces us to miss. Thanks for the great job managing the site!

Hope you can enjoy some New Years Cheer and give up the Geeky Techie stuff for a bit.

I noticed things were a bit slower lately, but blamed it on my computer! Hey that is what you do ...blame it on each of our own personal computers and take a few days off!!!

But sincerly, I know I speak for everyone here in thanking you for all you do. Your love delivered on the screen and all the work done behind it are very very appreciated!!!

And while you got your monkeywrench out…

I need to talk with my monkysweetie, Maddie and my blog posts aren't showing up on her blog!  It still says they "need moderation" but I think there is some monkeybusiness going on because she loves me and me only!

Yours truly not,

monkeybutt er, I mean monkeybunny (it's the year of the rabbit, you know)

OK Monkeybrains, we can only assume you mean your comments are awaiting moderation. Did you not see the existing topic about this issue lovely Comet started?

We just approved your comments so future ones should post automatically, that is unless Natty Mattie has blacklisted you. And don't ask why your avatar isn't showing, just read the notice at the top of every page of ever Tripawds Blog.

Monkeysweetie Maddie would never blacklist me.  She lives for my "comments"!  We LOVE each other!  And we both agree the Monkeymean Man is on our radar for 2011!

Just a head's up, in the "Performance Tuning" topic, Admin guy says:

Any feedback regarding site performance over the past 48 hours is greatly appreciated.

Now is also the time to let us know if you use the New/Recently
updated Topics drop down menus at the bottom of all forum pages. This
is yet another database call, and is redundant to the List we dispay
the top of the main forum page. We received resistance, however, the
last time we removed it.

I always use the drop-down menu on the bottom of the page top find new posts, but if I am in the minority I could learn to find new posts a different way.  I do not see a list at the top of the forum page.

As a moderator, you have the option in your User Profile (Not Forum Profile) to turn the list on or off, and show the Admin Bar instead, or not.
