I chose my photo for the avatar.  Now it wants me to crop it, but it doesn't let me.  I just want to use the image as is.  It says crop image, but when I try to the square won't move over my picture.  Also, it doesn't say what to do next after I crop the image.  I hope this isn't too confusing.

Hmmm... haven't heard of such issues for a long time. Hopefully we can help. What browser are you using? Are you on an mobile device? If at all possible try Firefox.

If you want to make this easy and quick, create your avatar as you want it at 128x128, upload it and no cropping will be required. You can also try the alternative upload method, but if the file is uploading successfully, that shouldn't make a difference.

If all else fails, post the image here or send it to us and we'll update your avatar for you...

Well, your avatar looks fine on mine end.

Next try using the "alternative upload" button instead of the plain one.  If I'm understanding your problem, it's what I always experienced too.  I found using the "alternative upload" button works every time.
