Howdy folks. I don't mean to alarm you with this title, but it's no joke. Admin Guy pointed out this information to me earlier today and I feel that you should know what our community is up against every single day in cyberspace, and even moreso lately.
You already know that evil-doer hackers constantly try to break into all websites and servers, not just ours. A major part of Admin Guy's role here is to prevent these malicious attacks at Tripawds. Thanks to our generous supporters, he can monitor against break-ins on a daily basis. His job's been even busier lately. This newsletter he gets explains why in detail, but here's a summary in laypersons terms:
Huge Increase in Brute Force Attacks in December and What to Do
. . . Three weeks ago, on November 24th, we started seeing a rise in brute force attacks. As a reminder, a brute force attack is one that tries to guess your username and password to sign into your WordPress website. . .
During the past three weeks we have seen the number of sites attacked each day almost double. The dotted blue line indicates the average number of attacked sites for the 60 days shown. The charts below show attack patterns over the past 2 months.
. . . They don’t launch any sophisticated attacks. They are hammering away at WordPress sites at a rate of over a quarter million login attempts each, in some cases, during a 24 hour period. READ MORE HERE

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I just had an attempted attack on my Facebook page yesterday ... it's so annoying. Luckily, Facebook was also on the ball and caught on that I was probably not trying to sign-in from some other state while still signed in at home. They logged me out and locked my account until I verified that it wasn't me, then I had to create a new password.

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Thank you for all you do to keep us going. I remember an issue a year or so ago where they were doing nasty things and kept us down for a little bit. Thank you admin guy & his trained monkeys 🙂
