Great idea!! Thanks to That Pet Place, and Tripawds for this fabulous idea! I have been distributing Tripawds cards for awhile, and keeping the veterinary surgeon that did my Polly's amp, supplied with bandanas, but the brochures have so much helpful information on them.

Love,

Just bumping this up. We haven't received any names/addresses yet and would LOVE to get these brochures sent out.

Also, if anyone wants to volunteer to put together a mailing list of vet oncology clinics & hospitals, we would be super grateful. Otherwise the Foundation is going to have to spend money on mailing lists and we really don't want to do that. Please let us know if this is something you'd like to take on and we can talk.

Thank you for thinking about this!

Do you mean like doing a Google search compiling a list in an excel spreadsheet vs the foundation purchasing a mailing list? This does seem like a large undertaking and I am happy to take a stab at the west coast but would like a little bit more info.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I can help too. Found a great resource for starting the mailing list:

http://www.vetc.....ciety.org/

They have a list of teaching hospitals and also a database for board-certified oncologists that is searchable by state.

Thanks for asking and being willing to help. Yes, exactly! If anyone wants to put the names into a spreadsheet, it would give us a huge head start on the mailing. Ideally, it would be in a google doc so volunteers can see who and who isn't listed. What do you think?

Maybe we should split the country up so people don't have to be checking to make sure someone is not already on the list. People would just worry about the states they are responsible for. Obviously some states are going to have more work involved. For example, CA had over 80 oncologists listed. Arkansas didn't have any. I also noticed that there is likely to be total overlap between the teaching hospitals list and the individual oncologists list. It would be better to send to attention of someone at teaching hospitals and clinics whenever possible.

I can look some more at the lists and see how to divide the work up by states. I am thinking east coast, west coast and everything in between but I'll take a closer look. So far do we have three peeps who are willing to do data entry? Michelle (not sure if you were volunteeringsmiley), Alison, and me?

Also, I don't know how you are planning on shipping these (DIY? Having PSPrint do it?) but the spreadsheet should probably be formatted so it can be mail merged with address labels, right? Mail merge is a little over my head but there is stuff online on how to set up the spreadsheet.

xoxo,

Martha

Awesome suggestions Martha, thank you so much for thinking so organizationally!

Yes, definitely. If you're wiling to create a document that divides them up like this that would be great.

Also, I don't know how you are planning on shipping these (DIY? Having PSPrint do it?) but the spreadsheet should probably be formatted so it can be mail merged with address labels, right?

Right now, we have enough brochures to send to 170 different recipients, if we send 25 brochures a piece (plus a stand-up brochure holder). It's not that many, so seeing as how we don't own a desktop printer here at Tripawds HQ, in all likelihood we will preprint a cover letter and hand-write the address labels. Not a big deal.

Martha do you know how to use Google Docs?

YES ... I am volunteering to help. I don't really know how to set up a "google doc" but I know how to work with one. But as far as the mail merge goes, I am good with that.

I agree - splitting up the country by region would be best and deciding which vets to ship too. Like Martha said, if there are 80 oncos in CA, that's a lot right there. I know LA alone has at least 3 (probably more). These would be primarily onco vets, not the VCA generic vets, right? Unless they have an oncology dept? Because LA has so many vets ... I cannot even imagine where to start. I pass by at least 15 on my way to and from work.

Let me know how to help! I am magnificent at following directions! 🙂
