Hi, everyone, and thanks for all the advice and best wishes regarding our (almost) 14-year-old Cattle Dog.

Freeway's amputation surgery was yesterday and, although we haven't seen him yet, we have been told the amp went well and without complications. As of last night, he was recovering from the anesthetic and getting used to the pain meds. Not sure when he'll be home, but I think tomorrow.

The staff and vets at Cornell have been marvelous and, as many of them are our neighbors here in Brooktondale, several have already checked on him and updated us. Seems everyone here knows Freeway. Surgery was performed by a soft-tissue specialist from Ohio State University who is currently  a visiting vet (Dr. Christopher Adin).

Prior to scheduling his surgery, he was thoroughly checked (x-rays, lymph nodes, abdominal ultrasound) and the cancer has not metastasized so that was good news.

The harness we ordered on this site arrived yesterday and we bought him a Cornell University Veterinary Hospital t-shirt for when he comes home.

I can't tell you how great the ebook is!! I mentioned it to several people at Cornell. What a great resource it (and this site) are. And how fortunate we are that we decided to retire near this wonderful teaching hospital.

Bravo! That is fantastic news, we are so glad to hear this! Thanks for keeping his updates here, it's so great for folks to know how senior dogs do throughout the Tripawd journey. It's also great for people to know what it's like to work with university teaching hospitals & their staff.

We can't thank you enough for purchasing a harness here, and for mentioning our e-books and the community to the Cornell docs. What an honor! If you get the time, we have these business cards and flyers you can download to help spread the word to everyone.

Congratulations, you've all taken a great big hop and we're here to cheer you on. Keep us posted! clap
