Sharing a letter from my handicapped neighbor

My neighbor has an issue (not sure if it's physical or psychological) and he cannot talk without muttering/rambling.  It's tough to understand, but with his meds, you can catch parts of the conversation enough to communicate sometimes.  He lives alone and has a trust fund.  Anyway, he left me a couple messages a few days ago, something about asking me to come over to get a Xmas present.  I went, but he wasn't home.  I left him some pumpkin bread.  Mom caught him today and he gave her my gift.  She had told him the other day that my dog was very sick and that is why I let a few days get away from me, I didn't want to leave Raven's side (it was last weekend when I was waiting for Tom to come put Raven down, but Tom thankfully never showed up).  It was a crudely wrapped (like a child) little Kmart Giftcard for $50 with a York chocolate on top and this post it note inside (see attached).  It broke my heart.  I can see that it says something about holiday, get well, things get better.  He's basically wishing my dog will get better.  This man that has to struggle to get through daily life is comforting *me*.  He has the biggest heart, such a sweet man.  Thank you Hoyt!

Thanks for sharing this heartwarming reminder that there really are such good people out there. After a few weeks in L.A. I needed that!

One of the people kindest to me during Emily's fight with cancer was a woman I work with whos husband was fighting (and lost) the same battle.  Thank God for people like Hoyt and Jane.

Just proves dogs are able to touch the souls of all, if we just let them in.  That is so beautiful.  Thanks for sharing.
