Molly is now 1 month post surgery for amputating  her left front leg. We were devastated by her diagnosis and scared to death of the surgery and how she would handle it. She ended up having to stay at the animal hospital for a couple of extra days because she wasn't eating and had some vomiting. Since coming home she has been doing great so far. She is amazing! She is getting around much better than we anticipated and after the first week has needed no help getting in and out of the car. The first thing she did when she came home was to jump on our bed, which she wasn't supposed to do! I took her outside on a leash for the first week but she didn't like it. She prefers to do her business on her own and untethered. We had purchased a harness for her but she hasn't wanted or needed it. She still sleeps on the bed with us at night and gets up and down unaided. There isn't much she can't do and she is finding new ways to do some things. She even runs when she gets excited! The first day she chased a rabbit again I was so happy! We are still living with the possibility of the Osteosarcoma  returning but for now we are taking one day at a time and enjoying each and every day that we have with her.

Molly is truly a rock star! That's wonderful that she's exceeded all of your expectations, and that life is getting back to a new normal.

If you haven't already I would consider having her evaluated by a canine rehabilitation therapist. I know it may seem like she doesn't need it...lots of people think that when their dog is able to do all the things they used to, the last thing they need is rehab. A rehab therapist visit is more about our education as parents...they can help you determine what is the best kind of exercise and activity for her so that she doesn't injure herself. Unfortunately we see Tripawd injuries a lot here, usually about 2-3 months into recovery after they were doing so well. Which is why we encourage rehab for everyone. And the best part is that if you see a therapist, the Tripawds Foundation may pay for your first rehab visit ! It's a win win 🙂

Do you have any photos or videos of her? We would love to see them! Here's a post about adding images to the Forums.
