It seems like forever since I checked in last. Sometimes I get so caught up with work that I forget to stop and smell the roses but Maverick is trying to change that attitude 🙂  So Sunday Mav succeeded in prying me out of my nice warm bed to go out and enjoy the brief spate of good weather. I am beyond glad that he did since we ended up going for 4.3 miles! Holy cow, that is far longer than I ever expected him to do. I only set out thinking we'd go for a couple miles but at the end of each mile he wanted to keep going. I am so proud of my little man (can you tell, lol).

We're still going to physical therapy once a month and I think we'll continue for the rest of Mav's life. I can tell after exercise that his shoulder gets tight but the stretches and massage Lisa has us do gives him a lot of relief. Being so young, I want to keep as much mobility as possible. And really, Mav thinks PT is one of the best things ever invented. he gets so excited when he figures out where we are :)

Once the ground clears Mav will go for his herding instinct test and classes after. I plan to video tape that so I'll have to share when we go. It is really amazing how accepting the canine sport community has been of us and we are beyond grateful to have so many great trainers willing to work with us. No dog person can have a frown when a tripaw is around!

Mandy and Maverick

Maverick is a wonderful miniature australian shepard born with a malformation of the front right radius/ulna, amputation performed on 11/4/13 at 6 months old. Follow his story at mavericksjourney.tripawds.com.

Oooh this is a great update, it's so good to hear from you. Yay Maverick!!!

I agree that regular rehab exercises and games for life are an awesome thing to do for your Tripawd. He is so lucky to have you as a pawrent. We look forward to hearing lots more about the routines and exercises you're doing together, especially when you appear on Tripawd Talk Radio in March! :)

Got photos? We love seeing Maverick's cute mug!
