Happy Birthday to our totally pawesome Libby!!
I remember talking to our vet on the day of her diagnosis, 1-22-13 and him telling us she had a couple of months to live if we treated the pain only. I remember thinking...'but her birthday isn't until April!'. She became a tripawd on January 31st and we haven't looked back! Our first goal was to get her to her 10th birthday. Check. Our 2nd goal is to get her through a wonderful summer of swimming (I'm confident she can do it!).
We made her day special. We took her and Sammie to a pond near our home. She suited up in her Ruffwear Float Coat
and in she went...her first real swim of the season! She was so excited. She just came alive swimming after sticks. It's a good thing her Float Coat
has a handle because she didn't want to come out on her own. She would still be in there if we let her. We weren't sure how long she should stay in the cold water but it didn't seem to phase her. It actually seemed to energize her. She has a special cupcake waiting for her after dinner too.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Thank you! Yes, she's having a great day doing her 2nd favorite thing now....dropping the ball in front of Daddy's lawn mower so he has to stop and play.

Happy Birthday, Miss Libby! That looks like one happy Lab!!!
I have such a weakness for gray faced doggies... it just melts my heart. Makes them so much more dignified!
Right hind limb amputated 7/3/12 for OSA, started on alternating cycles of Carboplatin and Doxorubicin and oral Palladia. Single lung met 9/1. Met in the neck muscle removed 9/30. Large mass in sublumbar lymph node 10/2. Rescue chemo with ifosfamide 10/6. Mets to the rib and axillary lymph node 10/21. Started Leukeran and Pred 10/25. Wookie left this Earth for a far better place on 12/4/12. I miss you, Boo, you were my heart.

Last night I saw Wookie's pics on the banner at the top of the page. So adorable! I showed my husband and we were both saying,"Awwwww" 🙂 Libby thanks you both for the birthday wishes.

Didn'i realize my Happy Hannah and Libby had their surgeries around same time
. So that means Hannah gets to eat a special treat tonight to honor Sweet Libby's birthday!
The photos really do capture the essence of how happy a dog can be just being dog and enjoying the present full steam ahead:-)
You are giving Libby so much love and devotion and she's lapping up every second. Applause to you for giving her a life that would be the navy of any four-legged dog!

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
