Ok... I know I mentioned this in a prior post but... it warrants its own

Today is Champ's 5 month ampuversary. I didn't think we'd still be sharing our lives with him a year ago.

Champ's amputation story was a little different. While he was first diagnosied with cancer in his left rear femur, after limping since January last year, the small mass on his spleen took center stage. After a spleenectomy and chemotherapy our oncologist finally agreed that he was beating the cancer and we could think about the amputation.

With metronomic chemo he is now still CANCER FREE!!!! Like everyone here, we've had our setbacks. For Champ it was back issues. But we persevere. 14 months since cancer came into our lives, we are now thinking in terms of years instead of days or months now.

Thanks to everyone here for all the advice, suggestions, pats on the back, and ears. I don't know where I would have answers and relief otherwise.

Joy & Champ

Kami, Angel Mackenzie and Kobe

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

This momentous occasion most definitely warrants its own post!

Congratulations Champ! You've been through so much and overcome them with all the grace and courage that we so admire.

We are so happy for you, and glad that you're a part of this community.

Keep on kickin' cancer's butt!

WOWSA!  That's fantastic news!

14 months!?!?!?!  I think I hear the theme from "Rocky" in the background.  We have our own Tripawd Champ!

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
