A shout-out to this website and the Tripawds community. I took Tripawd Tess to the vet today because she is not getting around as well as she had been, and I was worried that her arthritis was worsening. She had her amputation 8 months ago for what was thought to be osteosarcoma but was found to be low grade soft tissue sarcoma. Amputation was supposed to be curative. Well, the xrays today showed she has lung tumors so I suspect it was really osteosarcoma all along. Of course I am devastated but we have had 8 blissful and ignorant months together. I came home and searched the Tripawds website for information on treatment for lung metastases and found everything I needed. Just having some information has already made me feel better, so once again, thank you!
We are optimizing her pain meds since her arthritis is indeed bad and she has an appointment with an acupuncturist on Friday. I will take a deep breath and think about chemo over the next few days.

I am so sorry you and Tess are facing this. But - there have been a tripawd or two who made it several months living with lung mets. This just means you have to pack more life into every day.

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

geesh, we're sorry to hear this, but we're glad you had those magical months together, not worrying about the 'what ifs' or the 'whens'. remember that nothing's really changed for tess, she's still the beautiful loving 'sister' she was before and will be tomorrow. no matter what you decide for treatment, make sure you include lots of snuggling and medicinal napping - get the most out of every moment!!

"blissful and ignorant"
When my folks decided not to take regular x-rays, that was how was saw that pre-mets time together too. Once we found out I had them, we decided that knowledge was power, and we felt better knowing what to expect and how we might be able to slow them down.
The news about mets is shocking enough when a pawrent knows they're dealing with osteosarcoma, I can't imagine how hard that must have been to hear for you.
But we're just glad that we could be here to help you through things. Remember, we are never far and there's always someone here to help. Give Tess a hug from us and remember, nothing has changed in her ability to live life to the fullest no matter what. Keep on keepin' on, and you two can handle anything.

Sorry to hear of Tess's mets. Our Abby has a lone lung met (at least last time we checked…), and it sucks to find that out, but at least our pups are still in the blissful and ignorant category. Definitely lots if good info on the site here about what you can do re: mets. With Abby we are doing metronomic protocol and I am also about to start her on Artemisinin. (just waiting for her tummy to settle down and for her to be a 'solid citizen' again…)
We may not have tons of quantity of time left with her, but we are definitely making whatever time is left quality time. I'm sure you are doing the same with your beautiful Tess.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
