Thanks Shanna! That's it? That seems so easy! I do mixed veggies (no salt) already plus the ground beef, chicken, turkey (but can you use mixed veggies or should you use only carrots and green beans?) & fish oil and glucosamine. Mackenzie's about 79 lbs (which she could stand to lose some weight) but this seems so easy to do since I'm forever cooking up food concoctions for my dogs. I'm sure Mackenzie would love this.
Thanks very much!

My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
I don't know if there is magic in the green bean/carrot combo or not. If you are already feeding mixed veggies, give it a try. Add the cottage cheese and be sure you measure – that, I think, is the key.
Here is the feeding guideline. It says that the recipe makes 1 3/4 pound. Feeding 1/2 at each meal for reducing worked well for Trouble even though it was a bit less than recommended. As she approached her goal, she began to ask for more. I started giving about 2 1/2 cup with the evening meal at that point. Now I've added just a little more with breakfast too.
Feeding Guideline:
5 lb dog – 1/3 lb food daily
10 lb dog – 2/3 lb food daily
20 lb dog – 1 lb food daily
40 lb dog – 1 3/4 lb food daily
60 lb dog – 2 1/2 lb food daily
80 lb dog – 3 lb food daily
100 lb dog – 3 2/3 lb food daily

I thought it only appropriate to save the 2000th post for Trouble's monthly update.
