… Ct scan was yesterday Vet didnt call me till after 3 I was a little concerned as he was dropped off at 8..
His read and notes of Ct scan was it was such a clearer picture of joint and thanked me for having it done.. He "thinks " it looks like an erosive arthritis immune related etiology of the joint . This is conclusive of the milky subtle change in synovial fluid and its not bacteria related so no infection… Also thats why they , he and radiologist suspected synovial sarcoma from x ray . This Ct scan gave a much better look at ligaments joint and bone..  Radiologists read  should be back by this afternoon
So heres where it gets complicated and the light went on.
And history the vet didnt know.. and his vet didnt connect it…..
Harley was a very healthy active dog up till July he has been on a great diet exercised fit and healthy… he ate a bat on July 21st .remember that story? He also had a rabies booster in his R Rear leg…….
On or about August 21st he started to become lame First trip back to vet for blood urine and x-rays was on August 27th.

Did a little research after the ortho vet called me and this type of immune related arthritis can be caused by a Vaccination booster. I told Surgical tech about it when I picked him up, Dr Beaver had left. her eyes got wide… She said does he know that…? I said no… his records forwarded were for all related test and lameness as well as stomach ulcer he developed from Rimadly; She said she was familiar with that reaction as well as fibro sacroma but thats mostly seen in cats.

"Immune-mediated polyarthritis can occur following the first vaccine injection or after booster vaccinations. Inflammation of the joint lining causes and increase in white blood cells within the joint fluid. This causes joint swelling and pain"

I mean He was brought in to reg vet as he was lame joint was swollen all those test and constant lameness since they all thought was infectious or injury or cancer but no one even me has suspected till last night he had a rabies vaccine a month before.
I may be grasping at air but
This just makes sense to me kind of like putting pieces of a puzzle together as to why this happened now…
I haven't gotten the radiologist report it should be in this afternoon… Hoping and praying that this is what it is

Harley for now is back on leash no walks for two weeks. He doesn't have to remain in crate but prefers it . He is on prednisone 20mg twice a day for two weeks and tramodal as needed.

Im anxious to hear from Dr. beaver and his thoughts on the vaccine… If there is any connection at all
NO MORE VACCINES AT ALL FOR THIS BOY EVER>>>>>

When I kept asking are you sure     he didnt sound  100% convincing but that may be me. with my guard up… About amputation he told me lets get this  under control see where he goes . If he can regain muscle mass and reverse atrophy, &manage pain he has a better chance of keeping the leg..
Thank you all for your responses and all the information you have given me.. I am forever grateful!!! This site is such a wealth of information     Hoping and praying the radiologist read is  conclusive with his..

Regardless, another heads up on the seldom kown vaccine reactions.  Fortunately, awareness is being raised slowly.

Your  handsome Harley is a mighty lucky boy to have such a diligent mom!

Hey! It's a little hard to follow, but are you suggesting his lamness is due to rabies booster?  If so, I wonder how one deals with that?  It's unclear from your story if you discussed this with the right vet.  Please describe more!  What a rollercoaster!  WOW!  Please keep us posted.  HUGS to you and Harley.

~ Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Hmm. Very interesting. I'm glad you have such a comprehensive team on your side to help you figure this out. We had our Wyatt Ray vaccinated yesterday, now we're going to watch him like a hawk.

Do keep in mind that recent studies are showing that now, scientists believe that vaccine reactions are not necessarily related to what goes inside the vaccine itself, but rather to how some animal's physiology reacts to where and how the vaccine goes into the body. We just learned this from the vets at Colorado State yesterday when Wyatt was getting vaccinated. Interesting findings for sure.

Well, keep us posted OK?
