Welcome and thanks for joining! Bless you for adopting Twiggy with her condition, we bet she does just fine. Just wait 'til you meet cometdog! Please keep us posted on what the vet says about keeping the leg or not and best wishes for getting Twiggy back in prime condition.

I will never as long as I live figure out how humans can be so cruel to animals. It looks like Twiggy has found a great home and I am sure she appreciates someone who loves and cares for her.
Welcome to our little group. And best wishes for the upcoming othopedic visit.

Thank you for your kind words. I saw her story on the pound website and couldn't even think of them putting her down just because she is tripawd. The only things she can't do right now is play rough with my other chihuahuas. But that may have to do more with her size than her disability. She does play with the puppy and Billy, who is real gentle with her.
wow. On the one hand there are the ...looking for a word here... lifeforms that Twiggy lived with. Wait...maybe not lifeforms...is pond scum a lifeform????
Then there is you, Pam, and your family. As I couldn't find a word bad enough for them, I can't seem to come up with one that is good enough for you. You are truly one of God's angels here on earth. Welcome to our family, we hope to hear many many stories and see many many pictures....
Paws up to you for taking Twiggy in, I hope you guys have alot of years together. Holy moly, 2 1/2 lbs and gianed 6 oz!!!, Gus ate more than that at one meal in his prime!!! I can't imagine having something that small, I'd be afraid I'd trip over it if we did!!!, Good luck, Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010

Thank you, Gus and Dan. Yeah, she's a tiny one, the smallest of my Chihuahua's And the 2 1/2 pounds is after she gained the 6 oz. My 3 month old puppy weighs the same as her. But, she holds her own. She's a big dog in a small package.
Yay! She played with me for the first time today. I just so love it when a rescue finally is comfortable around me to play. She is getting along so well being tripawd it's ridiculous. She runs and plays and does everything a dog should. Except for the puppy, the other dogs are still not too sure of her. She wants to join in their playing, but they ignore her. Billy will sometimes come over and play a bit, but then walks away. She shows no pain in her hips or pelvis, so I am thinking of foregoing the amputation for now. I have seen her use the bad leg for balance when getting in and out of a dog bed and she can still use it to scratch. It's not in her way. The vet mentioned that taking it off could mess up her balance, too. She loves sneaking all the toys she can find into a dog bed, then lying on them. lol She is unable to get on the couch, but that's a good thing because I would hate for her to fall off. She sleeps in her crate at night next to my bed because I am afraid to have her up on the bed. It's too high and she tends to lurch a bit when she walks. She is cool about being in there, so all's good. I did have her in the dog room at night with Smoke, but after 6 days, she started screaming when the rest of us went to bed, so I moved her crate in and problem is solved. She doesn't use the crate during the day anymore, she's out among the pack. She does bark at my cats, though. lol They are three times her size. She's a bold one.
She is such a cutie, she so deserves a wonderful, loving forever home, it sounds like she has found just that with you. You were her miracle.
