Our journey started not that long ago.  In January of 2013, Libby, our 9 3/4 year old Chocolate Lab had been limping.  This wasn't shocking since she acts like a puppy and runs, plays hard and loves hiking the trails.  When the limping didn't improve we took her in for an xray of her front right leg.  The vet let us know that it was clear so she must have just overdone it.  Pain meds were given and we were on our way.  A week and a half later there was not much improvement in that leg.  We took her back to get a different angle on the xray. The vet suspected osteosarcoma.

After many, many tears and lots of research (thanks to Tripawds.com) we decided to amputate.  Libby has too much life left in her and gave us no sign she was ready to give up.  She became a tripawd on January 31st.  We are still in the midst of her recovery but she is now pain free and rockin' the tripawd life while kicking cancer's butt! She has taught us to live in the moment, think more like a dog and just enjoy each day....because each day is a gift.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Libby IS kicking butt!  You are SO lovely!  Love YOU!

~ Katy

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Libby is a miracle girl!  I'm so glad she is doing so well and that you made the right decision!  I love what Jerry said "It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four"!  So true!clap
