Jeez, in all the other trauma going on, today is Tika's nine month anniversary.
I was looking through her initial prognosis earlier and last December the doctors thought, because of her age and normally at this age the cancer is aggressive (uh, yeah, it's proven to be that), that she would probably have 6-8 months with amputation and chemo.
Well, THHHHHPPPPPT, NYAH, NYAH, NYAH--a minor victory won there. Tika beat the prognosis, our KC oncologist (yeppers--we collect oncologists like some people collect baseball cards!) thinks that at this point, the metronomic protocol has been the biggest help in prolonging her life.
So, if only we could find that magic bullet to get those mets to stop growing, oh what great victory that would be not only for Tika but for all cancer doggies.
Peace to all!

Fantastic, Tika! You are betting the odds. Keep fighting those nasty lung mets!

Perspective, that's what we all need sometimes to help us feel better. Nine months is incredible!
Congratulations Tika, we knew you could cheer up your Mom! Here's to many, many more!

The sound that you hear from the West Coast is the cheering about reaching such a wonderful milestone. Each and every ampuversary is wonderful and well worth celebrating. We all start this journey hoping that we will beat the odds and we will be one of those who push the life expectancy numbers up. I honestly do believe that the support and comfort that is expressed on this site does indeed accomplish that task. I do disagree about the fact that you called this a minor victory. Nine months of quality is a major in my book but if you want to call it minor because you plan on having many more such great ampuversaries, then I will accept your adjective.
With glasses raised, we vicariously celebrate this nine month apuversary and toast to many more in an enjoyable future.

Bob--
You are correct, it is major. I stand humbly corrected.
Now I'm dealing with a very verbal, spoiled doggy who thinks she can play games and not eat HER food because she's been getting MY food. (Once again, NOT MY FAULT!) Daddy's lucky he's on a business trip right now.
This will last for about 1/2 hour more and then she'll eat her food, however, I'm overjoyed to be 'arguing' with her about it. The almost 48 hours she was silent was too scary.
So I raise a glass in salute to all my fellow tripawds, here and in spirit. We are all champions!

Happy Ampuversary Tika! Keep proving the doc wrong and stop this mets growing NOW!
Tell your mum that spoiling isn't that bad although I say this because I don't have to argue with you!!!
