I haven't posted about Clyde in a separate topic for a long time - I think since his two year ampuversary. Well, he's doing just great. Some of you may remember that we had a rough time a little over a year ago (unrelated to his osteo, all due to his appetite for tiny zip ties and subsequent vestibular event), but he eventually completely recovered from all of that.
He's a happy, healthy boy. Sleeps a little more, but he's like 12.5 years old now and is a fairly big dog. He plays with his little dog friends, chews his bones, sun bathes, enjoys his front yard rolls in the grass, and is just perfect.
He still shows no evidence of any spread of the disease. I've been working from home much more, and get to spend a lot of time with him. A few months ago I noticed that he was moaning quite a bit. Took him to the vet, and he prescribed some Gabapentin in addition to his daily Carbofren (sp?). Moaning is gone now, so it definitely helped. Hopping on three legs might be catching up with him a little since he's getting older, but he takes good care of himself and will just lay down if he's had enough. I give him massages when we are hanging out watching TV which he really enjoys.
I'm just so happy and so lucky to still have him. Just amputation and no chemo, and he's beating all the odds. I can't remember how to post pictures - I will look it up and post one or two in the replies - he looks the same (summer hair cut) with just a little more gray (kind of like me!)
Kristin & Clyde
Congratulations! Kristin & Clyde. That is wonderful news! Awesome! Brownie is also a little over 12 and going on 4 months with amputation and no chemo. OST bone cancer. He also sleeps more due to age. I hope he is as a good fighter as your Clyde. I would love to see pictures!
My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019. With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer. I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud! He will live forever in my Heart!
