Lots and lots of good thoughts as you make that Dr visit on the 25th. This is a hard journey with lots of ups and downs. You never know when they will bounce back for another run of good times. Needless to say, that is exactly what we are hoping for with Tehya.
I'm so happy to know we have so many supportive friends who are cheering us on and sharing our pain. This is an amazing group of folks. Spend lots of quality time with Tehya, you'll never regret it.

Pardon the expression but some days just suck and this is one of them for sure! Yesterday we took Tehya back to the oncologist for her two week check up. We mentioned that she had cracked her nail which appeared to be healing nicely but luckily another Golden in the waiting room stepped on it and it started to bleed. I say luckily because we probably wouldn't even have mentioned it if it wasn't bleeding. The oncologist said she didn't like the looks of it as it had cracked at the top and the tissue looked very abnormal. To make a long story short we have three options, biopsy the tissue to see what it is, amputate the toe or treat it with epsom salts and antibiotics in the unlikelhood it isn't the cancer showing up (which by the way the oncologist and surgeon are pretty sure it is). We have opted for the latter and took Tehya today to our regular Vet so he could have a look at it for a starting point for him. After checking her out he basically told us to take her home and enjoy what little time we have left with her. We have been the best pawrents we could to her and to cut her up by amputating her toe is just fighting a losing battle. So that's what we are going to do enjoy every last minute we can with our precious Tehya (that's what her name means by the way). She doesn't seem to be in pain and her tail is still wagging like crazy probably will until the day she dies. Needing all the hugs I can possibly get today!

Dear Darlene and Tehya,
We're so sorry to hear that Tehya's cracked nail may end up being worse than just a cracked nail. She is such a trooper. and you are awesome pawrents for her. We are keeping you and Tehya in our prayers, thoughts, hearts, hands and paws right now. We will hope for the best, and wish you lots more time with your precious Tehya.
We're sending lots and lots of hugs to you right now... across all the miles. And Holly would like to remind Tehya that they have a big day coming up on Sunday/Monday together - deserving of lots of treats!

I'm so very sorry the news wasn't what we (and you) hoped for. Realizing you still have quailty time with Teyha is such a positive step for you. Tehya's wagging tail and no indication of pain are both good things. I'll keep sending healing thoughts for Tehya and hugs to you.

Darlene, you're right, that sucks, plain and simple. This is the first time here at Tripawds that I can recall a broken nail turning into something so awful. Yeah, I know that's not a distinction you wanted for Teyha. But I just wanted to let you know that we'd never encountered that situation before because if we had we would've thought of it when you first mentioned it. I'm so sorry. At least now, we'll be aware that things like this can be a sign of something more serious, if it ever comes up with another pup (hopefully never).
Going with your instincts and what you believe is best for Teyha and your pack is all that matters right now. You know what's best, run with it. Love her, spoil her rotten, and embrace every moment. And remember, nobody can predict what the future will bring. Let's hope it's long, hoppy times ahead with your beautiful girl.
Much love & hugs to you.

Darlene,
I am so so sorry to hear your news. My heart is breaking for you. You have been wonderful parents to Tehya and have done everything you can for her. I wish that I could reach out and give you a real hug but please know that I am sending a virtual hug to you and one to Tehya, as well. I am so glad that she does not seem to be in pain and that she is still happy and wagging that tail! Spoil your girl and build up a treasure chest of memories of her. You may want to consider doing a plaster mold of her pawprint. (When Emily died the hospital made one for us and I treasure it so much.) But remember, as Jerry said, none of can predict the future. Try not to grieve for what some day will be when you can celebrate the present. Prayers for you and Tehya.

Dear Darlene and family: We are so sorry to hear this recent news. This does suck. You've fought so hard for Tehya and we know she feels your love and devotion. Keep wagging that tail Tehya! Sounds like she is showing you she still wants to celebrate her life and enjoy her time with you. That girl knows how to have fun!
We're praying for you and sending her love, Eve and Romeo
