I just updated Rusty's blog with his latest activities and we had some very good news from the vet!
We met with Dr. Macy last week for Rusty’s monthly checkup; the timing was good as Rusty had started coughing and wheezing the last couple of days and we were concerned that the cancer may have spread into his lungs. Great news; the X-Rays showed no sign of cancer in his lungs or abdomen!
Dr. Macy identified the problem as Bronchitis, most likely from swallowing too much pool water or the cooler weather from our recent trip. Rusty is on antibiotics and no swimming forthe next week (ouch!).
Rusty’s bloodwork was pretty much the same as last month, a few readings were a little lower but still within acceptable limits. After the results from the X-Rays
and blood work, Dr. Macy was very pleased that the cancer has not returned (he said that he was anticipating seeing some signs of the cancer spreading) and will keep Rusty on the twice monthly oral Chemo treatments as planned.
The 25th will be his 8th month Ampuversary!
Chuck & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
Yay Rusty! Keep up the good work! Happy 10 day early 8 month ampuversary too!! Maybe after the cough is gone you can go swimming again!!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
