Thank you everyone for all your supportive comments! Rosy's amputation of her R hind leg was Monday, surgery went well, & I brought her home yesterday. She was pretty wiped out, and hurting last night. Today was much better, she can hop to the backyard, & finally poo'ed. Squatting is no problem, I think ball chasing helped give her strong hind quarters. She is still her sunny self, grinning & tail wagging. Her canine BFF Katiethecuddler is very happy to have her back home. Last week I cried, but this week is all about my dog healing & living a good life again, without cancer. Rosy's strength & resilience, & love of life amazes me. I am in awe of her mighty spirit. She already growled at the mailwoman today! She has taught me that a leg is just a leg. Thank you for your support, it has helped so much.
Rosythered's not quite so worried mom
ps To Bauer in Seattle- Rosy thinks you're pretty cute, too. Do you have a friend for Katiethecuddler? You can tell by her name that she's not very picky.
OH WONDERFUL WONDERFUL….now you need to keep us posted on how she progresses…such a pretty girl.
If I didn't already suggest it, a Ruffwear Harness will be very helpful!!
Get some rest while she rests and enjoy every single minute…..spoiling her rotten, doesn't sound like that will be much of a problem!!
Thanks for the great update! Glad to hear Rosy is on the road to recovery, may it be speedy and complete.

A growl at the mailman - that's always a great sign that Rosythered's on the great road to recovery. So happy to hear that she's home with you now. Just be prepared for a couple of rough weeks ahead but then she'll move past that with flying colors. Best of luck with everything and we will keep our paws crossed that she has a smooth and speedy recovery!
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
See! Who needs a 4th leg anyway! Rosie sure doesn't!
Way to show your mom you are full of life!
Keep up the good work!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Sounds like you will need to hide the tennis balls soon to let her rest!
I'm glad Rosy has started her recovery. Don't get discouraged if she has some down time the next couple of weeks- its normal. But she will continue to heal and soon be the old Rosy.
And already the first poop!!! That is a great milestone worth a quick celebration

So glad that Rosy's home and feeling better already... Wishing her a speedy recovery!!!
Angel Jake's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Hey Rosy, great news so far, welcome to the family!!! When I brought Gus home he ate more than he had the three previous days, and I thought it was going to be easier than I thought it would be going into the surgery, but I found out there were some rough spots in the road, so make sure your shock absorbers are in good shape, there might be some rough spots, especially nights for us anyhow didn't go to well for that first couple weeks. It was amazing how after that first 2 weeks Gus seemed to progress so much each day. He is to the point where if he wants to he can move very fast, he lost his left front. . Hopefully you won't have to deal with phantom pain , but if you do, hold on, when it hits them, you'll think she was hit by a car the first few times, and it will scare the heck out of you, especially if you have just fallen asleep and it is 3:30 in the morning, but those spells got milder fairly quick, but Gus had it for a good three weeks, and once in a while he will still give a quick yip, as if you stepped on his paw. Tramadol didn't work well for Gus, so we had him on Rimidyl and Gabapentin and that combo seemed to work for the surgery pain and I think Gabapentin did help with the phantom pain . Don't be afraid to ask ANYTHING here, this is the best place to be and experience gives the best advice. Paws up, Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
rosy, so glad you are home!! growling at the mail carrier is excellent - save some strength for the ups guy too!! don't forget to fit in some power naps, as i truly believe they speed recovery.
gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Wonderful news!!!! You sound like me in your "Last week I cried, but this week is all about my dog healing & living a good life again, without cancer" comment.
Last night, I was looking at Maggie with three legs and thinking I'm starting to not remember when she had four! The fourth was so painful and I'm sooooo glad she is pain free from that now! But I'm a slow learner it appears as you are getting those thoughts right now 🙂
Stay strong Rosythered!!! You'll be chasing balls in no time!
