We recently agreed to rescue a newborn Golden Retriever puppy that had to have his left rear leg amputated at six days of age.  We've owned a couple of rescue dogs in the past, but this will be our first amputee.  We are really excited to give this guy a loving home.  I'm wondering if it's a good idea to give him a companion sibling from the same litter.  The veterinarian that performed the amputation said he's strong and healthy other than being a tripawd now.

Hello and welcome!

Have you decided on a name for your new boy?  I don't think I've heard of a surgery so young.

I've almost always had two dogs at one time- but for the last several years they have all been small.  I like the fact that they have a companion when I'm not home.

More pictures please!

Also a big fan of a two dog household, although currently I am waiting for the right #2 to come along.   Congrats on your new baby!
