The cocker spaniel is Ellie. She knows her name and how to ‘stand’ and that’s it. We have had her playing, it is very sad when a dog doesn’t know how to play. I have taught her a few commands, we are still working on that sit. She never sits, it’s either a stand or a lie down for her. She panics when I put her in a sit but then relaxes quickly. Poor dog.

And yes. DJ behaved last night apparently. They pushed back my puck up time to the afternoon. She has quite a bit of bruising and a good sized blood pocket. I read about them here somewhere but can’t remember the name. He said other than that she has clotted well, had been to the bathroom, is waaay to active and just a love.y dog.  I don’t know if they have covered her wound or not but I am going to for a while after she gets home. I know her too well and know she will try to get at it again.

I believe you are referring to a seroma ?

So happy she'll be home with you very soon. You're right, the next few weeks should be very interesting! Let us know how we can make it easier.

I wonder if this will show a picture of DJ. She is at home recovering now. Not happy to have a cage around her but she will get over that.

I think I will start a blog on here. I want to take a day by day photo of the wound and keep track of her progress, it won’t be accepted on Facebook so well I am thinking 🤨. And if the pictures and timeline help future readers then that will be great. She has a lot more bruising today which I am assuming is normal. But she has not tried to get at it either so I am happy about that. She thinks she is ohh so clever flicking snow around with her cone ( we have a lot of snow). I thought maybe it was a balance thing putting her head down, I shoveled pathways to make life easier and she totally ignored them and flicked snow at me. 😇 The next time I took her out she didn’t do it... so she still has her sense of humour at least....

Flicking snow in the cone of shame ! Now that is a new one and if you happen to catch that on camera we would love to see it!

Sounds like her healing is progressing nicely. Photographing the bruising is super helpful to show you the progress, and if you need to show it to your vet over email (hopefully you won't).

I'm happy you want to start a blog. You are so right, they do help future members and those going through earlier phases of recovery. As for the photos, we don't have any issues with the real-life incision pics or anything like that, so post away. And let us know if you would like any assistance getting started, we are here to help.

Can't wait to see what you come up with 🙂

I am going to try and put a short video of the snow flicking on here. She is really quite proud of herself.   we have two stairs going into the house. This is a challenge, especially when she stands there and looks at me to help her navigate them. I can now do this for her... with a towel or just lifting her back end. Yesterday she decided she would try and chew the stitches.  It was actually very funny. She very slowly mover her head to her hind end.... all the while keeping her eyes on us. Of course she was told off and hasn't done it again.  But I am sure she will try very soon.

Hmmmm....said the Instagram link was "private".

Sounds like you and DJ have a good system for handling  those couple of stairs.  Stairs can be a hurdle, even if it's  just a couple.

DJ!!!  LEAVE YOUR STITCHES ALONE!!!!!

Yup, "This Account is Private."

The easiest way to share videos here in the forums for all to see is to post them (publicly) to YouTube first. Than you can paste the Share link in you forum post and the video will auto-embed right here in the forums.

Yes, she loves the snow...l don’t really love it in my hair and boots though🤣.     We have had a few little setbacks with her thinkIng she is a superstar and trying to move faster than me and the leash are willing to go. This has made her fall. The first time she reBruised the whole site under the incision, after that I realized that once she started to fall she was panicking so I just sat with her on the carpet until she calmed herself down and we went on our way.  She think she she is ready to be out of confinement but I am not willing to let the superstar out quite yet.  So now she will just sit and talk to us....  we talk back..... because we are normal like that.
