I have been on the site about a week and finally had time to write up the story of my tripawd Josephine.  I had my first dog Napoleon for 2.5 years when I met Josephine (she was called Ragdoll then).  Never in a million years did I think I would have two dogs and I was not on the lookout for a second dog.  I met Josephine, last May at the dog daycare that I took Napoleon to (they both still go).  She was being fostered through the humane society by a girl that works at the daycare.  Josephine had been a stray that was hit by a car.  He front left leg had been broken at the elbow.  When I first met her she had a splinted leg, as they were making an attempt to heal it.  After a few weeks it was apparent that the break was not going to heal and amputation was decided as the best course of action.  With that broken leg Jojo was a sad little pup.  You could see that it hurt her to play.

The first time I saw her after her surgery, running around playing with the other dogs at daycare, I just knew she was going to join my family.  Two weeks later I brought her home for a weekend for a trial run with Napoleon.  She has been with me ever since that weekend.  Napoleon was not sure about the whole thing for a day.  Within a couple weeks they were inseparable.  They sleep in a pile together, wrestle, and play tug.  Jojo can do just about everything that 4-legged dogs can and it amazes me that she keeps up with Napoleon.  I worry about her sometimes, that as she gets older her front leg will get injured from the extra exertion.  I am hoping that being on these forums will keep me in the loop as far as all the latest and greatest for keeping a tripawd healthy.

Forgot to post this one that truly shows Jojo's attitude.  She is the most happy go lucky dog I think I have ever met and just seeing her makes me smile.  She has the goofiest personality and is nothing but good times.

What a cutie! I don't think anypawdy on earth could resist that face. How old/young is she?

We are so glad you took time to share her story. There are so many pups who become Tripawds as she did, because of an accident that happened while wandering loose. What a lucky girl to find people that cared enough to help her, and to be adopted by your pack.

If you'd like, sharing her story in the "Beyond Cancer" Discussion is a also great place to show others what she can do, and keep track of the challenges and good times of other Tripawds who lost their legs for some other reason than cancer.

Thanks for joining the Tripawds Nation. Go Packers!

Welcome Josephine and Napoleon! What a cutie!

Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

Jerry, the best guess is that she is right around 1 year old.  So she was very young when all of this happened.  I would be willing to bet she doesn't even remember much about having 4 legs.

I will be sure to share in the beyond cancer section as well.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome laugh

Ohh she's a young thing! She looks very energetic, you can see it in her hoppy eyes.

Yeah, that's the advantage of becoming a Tripawd when you're a pup. If you have to lose a leg, at least you have a whole lifetime to get used to it.

She is utterly adorable (that pic is the Packers shirt is way too cute). I am glad she found you (I see why you couldn't resist her) and you found tripawds!  Look forward to reading about Josephine's adventures!

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011

Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011.  Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs.  If love alone could have saved you…

Welcome to Tripawds.
Looks like you have your hands full with her, lots of energy!
I like your packs names- my current pug pack is Titania and Oberon.

I agree with kviz about one thing- the Packers gear has got to go.

But I say GO NINERS!
