Hello, I’m a newbie. I want to apologize in advance if I do something wrong with my post.
about 2 weeks ago i adopted a 3 legged Pomeranian. He is the love of my life. He had his right leg amputated due to a femur break. His amputation was 3-15-24. when I got him I wasn’t told anything , what to expect. He is still in pain I’m pretty sure he has ghost pains. I can see him trying to use that nonexistent leg. What can I do to maybe help the ghost pains? Otherwise he has a huge heart. He gets around like he never lost a leg. Very playful. I can use any advice I’d be grateful

You certainly did everything RIGHT by adopting your sweet dog! We do have a forum for Adopted Tripawds here but you are welcome to post in this area as well. Also, be sure to check out our Tripawds Adoption articles too.
Meanwhile, can you be a little more specific about your dog's muscle movement? Does your dog (what is his name?) have any pain signals like crying out suddenly, or yelping from out of the blue? Muscle twitches are not always pain related. Most times it is simply nerves misfiring, directing the non-existent leg to move. If your dog is not crying out or showing other pain signals , this may be normal behavior. It may go away, or it may not. Our own Tripawd had muscle twitches his entire life but they were not phantom pain related according to the many pain specialists we spoke with over his lifetime.
Has your vet seen your dog yet and have you discussed this with them? What do they think if so?
