Awww, welcome Al and Mr. Tuff! We're so glad you're here, and that you found each other.

Why is he a Tripawd?

Why is he a Tripawd?

He was born with a deformed leg. His previous owners had what was there amputated when he was 1. He roamed our neighbors farm for a year and kept coming to visit my wife and I. I would load him up in the truck and take him home several times a week. He kept coming back. My wife and I gave him a lot of attention and played with him. Our neighbors are a very busy farm family and they realized he needed to be with a family who could give him more attention so they gave him to us.

Any way we enjoy walking and exploring our property.

Thanks for the warm welcome. See you all around.

Hello Mr. Tuff and family,

Welcome here!  I am glad his tripawdness isn't due to cancer.  I am also thrilled to hear that he found his forever family with you.  It breaks my heart when dogs struggle never fitting in, going from home to home.  Anyway, we look forward to reading of Mr. Tuff's adventures 🙂

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Welcome! Mr. Tuff is a very handsome boy!

It's nice that his tripawdness (new word?) is not from cancer!! So glad you found each other. You've found a great community here and we look forward to hearing more about Mr. Tuff's adventures.

Jackie, Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

OH! OH! OH! OH!  Welcome Al and of course, Mr. Tuff!

I'm not only excited that you two have found each other and Mr. Tuff has found his furever and ever home....but I too, had a front deformed leg dog with my Comet!  12 wonderful years!

Bless you, bless you for taking him into your family!   I know you are the ones that feel blessed just like I did!

Having my Comet changed me as a person for the better!  You may not need changing for the better, but I did!

On Mr. Tuff's arthritis, have you considered hydro therapy?  You may not have a place nearby that offers water therapy...but it does really, really help a three legged dog.  You'll be amazed at the results.  I know it's too cold to buy your own pool and do it now but there are great pools out there that are in the $100 range that work great too.

We have a ton of information here on tripawds about low impact physical therapy.  You may want to just read around and find it...it's everywhere.

Here's to a big warm welcome to tripawds and to wonderful beginnings!

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Thanks Cometdog

My friend Tuff has changed my life for the best. He is all the good I wish I could be and he has taught me muchsmile

I have checked into the hydro therapy and there is nothing close to us. We live in a very rural community in Georgia. The laser therapy has helped greatly and his therapist is also a doggy chiropractor and versed in acupuncture. I was a skeptic about all but must admit I feel different with the results we have experienced with my buddy.

This is a wonderful forum. Sadness is present but so is much love and caring.
