Well, we've had our new improved version of Minnie for just about a week, and she's doing really well. She's only on antibiotics now, thought she has a urinary infection that isn't clearing up as fast as I'd hoped.
What an amazing dog she is. I don't think she's loving the fact that we're not taking her on proper walks, but she is up and down off of the couch like nobody's business, and the other day, went up and down stairs without even blinking.
I'm so happy that she is adapting quickly, I think it must be nice for her to be rid of her injured leg, and to be nearly pain-free, and experience she hasn't had since July when she hurt her leg!
It's interesting to look back and think how upset I was in the past few weeks, trying to come to terms with making the decision to amputate. Now that it's done, I wouldn't change anything. She is just as sweet, and even cuter than she was before, if that's even possible!!
We have been taking photos of Minnie, I will share them soon!

Wonderful update! You go little one, show us how it's done!
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Thanks for the great update. We all had our paws crossed that as the chemicals left her body, her real personality would surface. Everyone here has gone though the process of great concern and worry. I know that it has been a roller-coaster, but Minnie is definately on the up-tick and should have a great life infront of her. If you keep her weight on the lean side, I would expect that she will have a very long and happy life.
Do please keep us updated. News like this is great and so very need at this time.

Isn't it amazing how much we can put ourselves through worrying about how our furbabies will do after amputation when all they really want is the pain to be gone? I'm glad that Minnie is doing so great!

Minnie is adorable! Glad to hear she's doing so well now... Can't wait to see all her pictures!!!
