Hi there,
Brand new to the group and wanted to introduce the amazing Popple. Popple is a four year old pomeranian that lost his front leg 3 weeks ago. He was attacked (for the second time) by a large dog. The attack left him with a complete - open fracture of the front leg, multiple bite wounds and lacerations, and a major bite/crush injury to the throat. His owners decided that it "wasn't that bad." He was left without veterianary care or pain management for 5 days. the owner did try to apply a bandage to the broken leg, however this was applied so tightly it cut off much of the blood supply to the leg and foot. When he was finally brought in for treatment, the owners had no money and decided it was best to sign him over to me (I am a Veterinary technician).
Well fast forward to today. He is the most amazing little man ever!! We were unable to save the leg - due to the loss of circulation and major infection from the open fracture (bone sticking out). He had his amputaion 3 weeks ago, and is an inspiration. He runs, jumps on the couch, and gets around almost perfectly. He has lost his voice completely from the crush injury, but he still barks to protect me (no sound comes out :)) We have some coughing from a collapsing trachea now, but the vest/harness we wear on walks helps. Through everything he has been amazingly brave. He never growled or complained even when he was in the worst pain and surrounded by strangers. Popple now is super attached to me as we have spent the last 3 weeks never apart. We are working on our separation anxiety, but we will get there.
I have been in the veterinary field for over 10 years, but I never stop being amazed by the spirit of all these little angels!
Welcome, and thanks for sharing Li'l Pop's story. He sounds like a trooper indeed.
Bless you for all you have done for Popple, we look forward to following his progress.

Welcome to Tripawds.
I love that you call Popple your tri-pom. I have called Maggie my tri-pug since shortly after her amp.
And he may be one of the smallest tripawds. My Maggie is about 15 lbs (should be 17, but she has some other health issues). How big is Popple?
Karen and the pug girls
They don't get any cuter than that little guy!
What a wonderful happy ending!
If I had one that small, I'd take him with me everywhere. My smallest purse is bigger than him!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Some people just really suck, don't they? And then there are good people, like you for taking on Popple. Bless you, and best of luck.

An icky story about giving treats before leaving … Harley used to get a treat, but eventually this triggered that I was leaving him and he would pee on something of mine when I was gone. He was put on medication for separation anxiety, and I also stopped giving the treat when leaving. The peeing stopped. We stopped the medication after a while. Still no peeing. It had to of been over a year later, after not peeing once, that I gave him a treat and left … he peed on my shoes. So, no treats at our house when leaving. So gross.
Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.
Oh Silly Harley! What's up with that?

Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Hi Popple, So sorry to hear about the vicious attack and the negligence of those people. Sounds like you have an amazing new home! Wolfie here lost his front-right leg also by another dog attack. His shoulder was completely dislocated and had 2cm bite wounds-amputation was strongly recommended.
