We said that IF we got another dog s/he would be 2 or 3 years old and deaf (I attend a lot of shows to educate people that just because a dog is deaf it does not mean he or she can lead a full, happy life). So meet Archer - 17 months old, staffie x labrador (with a hint of boxer) and not deaf. He leapt out of a 2nd floor window at 14 weeks and despite lots of effort ended up with a partial amputation - but problems with that so a then full amputation at the start of this year. People moan about the donations asked for a rescue dog - he must have cost the rescue tenfold what I donated.
Archer now lives with Jed (11 yr old deaf boxer x pointer), Bo (10 yr old staffie x), Reg (10 yr old JR x Chi), Georgie (6.5 yr old Staffie x Greyhound and his chief Sumo partner), 2 cats, 3 shetland ponies and a couple of chickens.
Welcome Archer and family! We are so happy to have you here! Thank you for stopping by to share your story. We've had a few people from Wales over the years and it's nice to have another one from your beautiful country.
Arthur you are SO lucky to have survived that ordeal. No more playing Batman OK? 😉
Got any photos of the pack? They sound like a LOT of fun! Here's a post about adding images to the Forums. Let us know if you'd like some assistance OK?

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Congratulations on your new addition. It's wonderful that you have such a loving heart to take on those who others may not want. I've heard a woman who trains great danes as service dogs say that deaf dogs are no worse than dogs that just don't listen. I imagine deaf dogs "hear" differently.
Looking forward to photos!

You have quite a pack! And Archer has landed in paradise!
My current Tripawd Elly lost her back leg at 7 months old. The rescue took her from her original owners because they couldn't deal with the surgery needed. In addition to the amp and spay Elly had bi-lateral cherry eye surgery before I adopted her so I understand what you mean by the rescue's cost being wayyyyyy more than what they charged me.
My second pug became fully deaf around 11 years old, she lived to be almost 15. She learned hand signals and responded very well. She seemed to watch my pug boy for cues to what was going on. There are a few things you have to do differently, but I would not hesitate to adopt a deaf dog if they otherwise fit in with my little pack.
