First, I would like to announce that I finished my ninth month of my recovery from the amputation last week.  In general, life is good and included a truck ride with Dad today.  I really like these rides and get very disappointed when Mom and Dad go without me.  What do they mean that “little dogs cannot go to church?”  Anyway, we are planning for next years big month long trip to Yellowstone.  Perhaps Dad will take me into the Upper Geyser Basin again so that I can watch Old Faithful from the swing on the Lower Hamilton General Store again.

Also, Dad finished a second TriPawd sweater for me.  For anyone who has ever had chemotherapy, you know that after these treatments you can get very cold very easily.  At first Dad just sewed up the leg-hole on Cassy's sweater.  Cassy was here long before me.  Dad then knit my own by modifying a pattern that he used previously.  Actually, he made it, we tried it on, he ripped it out and then remade it more than six times.  It really helped during the winter but Dad was never really satisfied.  He did not think that it fit quite right and he wanted to make it from softer yarn.  As he said, the difficulty is that you want to make a leg-hole on the side of the remaining leg but want to make a tube on the amputation side.  You could just make all the decreases on the leg-hole side but that would result in the center of the underbelly panel ending up at the shoulder.  He says that you have to shape each side of each panel differently so that it fits.  Anyway, he finished it at the start of the month and it does fit much better.  It's also extremely soft.  I can hardly wait until fall when I can start wearing it.

Below are some photos of my new sweater.  Note how the underbelly now covers the breastbone as it should.  Dad made an attempt at writing down some instructions for making the sweater if anyone wants to see them.  I can tell you that they are not for the faint of heart.  I do not think that Mom would ever try.  Yes, my Dad does knit but he says his strong mathematical background makes modifying these patters quite easy for him.

Closing for now but wishing all my TriPawd friends the best.

Cherry

Cherry, happy ampuversary! Please be sure to list your exact date in our new List Your Ampuversary topic.

That sweater is just gorgeous. Being a math idiot herself, my Mom could never, ever replicate something this cool. Your dad is AWESOME, just like you.

Congratulations beautiful girl, we're so hoppy for you!

woops the nasty typo posted before I could correct it - this webpage is TOO darn quick! (Bart Simpson writes 100 times: gorgeous, gorgeous  . . .). Oh well, it is pretty cool that all of our dogs can write, let along spell perfectly 😉
