It's been raining and raining and raining. Six and half inches in 6 days. It's stopped last evening so this morning we grabbed the girls and headed downtown.
Russian River Brewery is huge in our area. They brew a beer called "Pliny, the elder" all year long. In the winter they brew a special beer called, "Pliny, the younger." Beer aficionados from all over the country descend to their Brewhouses in early February. Lines around the block at the downtown location for about ten days.
Cindi said MIZDaisy had some difficulty in her class this week. She wasn't excited about walking into the group of the 5 other dogs and their Peeps in class. So, we decided to go downtown for some exposure.
I would sit with MIZBlosson in the city square as Cindi and MIZDaisy headed towards the lines at the brewery. When they finished their walk, we'd switch dogs, MIZDaisy and I would approach it from another direction. It was also really good practice for her using stairways, both open and closed. Walking over open-air grates and metal doors on the sidewalk. On one loop, we found 3 moms and 2 toddlers on a sidewalk. I know she could sense I was freaking out! We made it past them but didn’t make it by a bassinet rocking on the sidewalk. We tried 3 times and didn't succeed. That's OK, she tried. We'll get it next time.
After the next walk, Cindi said MIZDaisy was DUN!!! To celebrate we headed to In and Out for a big dinner! Cindi went in to order and I hung out with the Girls at a table. The folks walking in and out and in the drive through lane saw them and smiled. One dad said, "you know they sell Puppy Patties in there!" Yes Sir, we know all about them.
As we were eating Cindi said, I wonder where we would be without them? I said, "you don't always get what you want, you get what you need". As a child of the 60's, I can quote the Stones with the best of them.
MIZBlossom decided it was time for me to get up. So, with the T.O.T.D., ((toy of the day}, the much coveted, Orange Mini Football that's almost ripped in half, dripping with drool and a nudge from her power paw and waging tail hitting the wall and sounding like a bass drum, I was awake.
I immediately "requested" all 4 goons out of the bedroom and into the backyard. We didn't have to be anywhere till 10. Tried to go back to sleep. Didn't work.
Got up and started the day. Called Dusty and Rosy in, fed them first. Rosy inhales, Dusty "dines." Then it's "the girls" turn. They fly through the door! They're like, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for feeding us! They inhale it way too quickly and would spend 15 minutes licking and cleaning their bowls if we let them! I've never seen 4 dogs that love to eat as much as our 4 do!
With MIZBlossom's delicate tummy, we keep her in with us for like 15 minutes. If she's outside, she "instigates" a tussle by getting in Dusty's face, which in turn means MIZDaisy has to join in. After a couple of minutes our delicate, sweet MIZBlossom upchucks her breakfast! That means Dusty and MIZDaisy get seconds on their breakfast! So she then sits on the porch and uses the, over the shoulder, poor, poor pitiful me look. She knows I'll feed her again...
And where is Rosy during all of this? Off by herself, observing the 3 of them. She would NEVER, EVER, EVER get involved in such shenanigans. After all, she a Border Collie and is now in possession of the T.O.T.D. So there!
