Hi there!

My name is Saverio, from Caracas, Venezuela, last week my wife Brenda and I adopted a beautiful little bitch with an horror story.. her name, Arya..

Arya was found in a dumpster, with an exposed fracture in his left hind leg. The person who found her, took her to the vet, she underwent surgery, putting nails in his leg. Days after the leg began to swell and began to show symptoms of necrosis. so that  leg was amputated.

My wife heard the story that was published in facebook and decided to adopt her and now Arya is part of our pack, she is being training in agility and obedience (first classes  very easy..) ... My wife´s idea is to turn Arya into an adoption flag, and perhaps training her to serve as  a therapy dog for children orthopedic hospital..

By the way... Arya is the little one in my avatar......

Best regards from Venezuela... Sorry for my poor english....

Hello and welcome to Tripawds.  Your future posts will not require moderation.

You and your wife are wonderful for adopting Arya- she looks really smart in the picture- how big is she? how old is she?

Someone threw her away with a broken leg???? Grrrrrrrr.

I think being a therapy dog is a wonderful idea.

I'm looking forward to learning more about Arya!

Thanks Karen...

Arya is about 7 month old and she is little.. almost 5 kilograms (10 pounds).. she is really smart and immediately bonds with our other 4 dogs.. a malinois, a dutch shepherd, a border collie and a 11 year old rescued dog.

We presume that she was hit by a car and someone threw her away in a garbage disposer...

I am very glad to found this forum, my wife and I have so many cuestions....

Best regards...

Welcome.  Arya has been very lucky to have found you.  We are looking forward to hearing more about her.

Hooray for Arya finding you guys! She is adorable!

Young dogs do tend to heal up very quickly! Ours was young and full of spunk, once she got her stamina back.

Let us know what questions you have! That's what we're here for.

(And your English is great!)

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

What a pretty dog!  Welcome to the site, it is a wonderful resource for new tripawd owners.  Let us know if we can help in any way.

Lisa

p.s. - I agree, your English is great!

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Oh how wonderful!  Bless you for rescuing this beauty!

People are so cruel!  It's unreal they would dump her.  Shame, shame, shame on those horrible people!

I had a tripawd for 12 years (front leg was deformed from birth).  So as a collective group we can answer most of your questions!

Welcome!

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Hi Arya and family! We are so glad you found us, and even happier that you were able to find each other. What a beautiful pack you have. Thank you so much Saverio for saving this gorgeous puppy (your English is just fine by the way!). There are too many dogs out there who don't find such loving homes, it's good to know that one more dog did find one!

Arya is beautiful. Her size is a big advantage as a Tripawd. The leaner you keep her and make sure she doesn't gain weight, the better it will be for her health as she ages. We are here to answer any questions you may have, but it sounds like you're all fitting in together just fine. We would love to see a photo of your pack, all of your dogs sound wonderful!

Thanks again for sharing your story. Stop by anytime, we always love keeping in touch with our members from around the world!

Just wanted to say hi and welcome!  She is a lovely girl-- and you have the most beautiful pack-- she is one lucky girl to have found her way to you.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011

Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011.  Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs.  If love alone could have saved you…
