This weekend I adopted 1 yr old Marley from the Fort Worth Humane Society. He is the sweetest dog and I wasn't real sure what I was getting myself into. Seeing this community has affirmed my decision.

If that wasn't enough, seeing the look on my 8 year old daughters face was. She is so excited and told me over and over that I picked the "best one".

Thanks for all your inspirational stories and tips!

You will not regret that decision.  They develop the most wonderful personalitites and EVERYONE loves them.  You just can't help yourself.  That you so much for giving Marley a chance, so many folks wouldn't.

BTW, we want pictures of Marley and that wonderful daughter!

welcome Marley and family! No you will not regret your decision, your story reminds me of my first rescue dog, Ben a 9 month old Doberman, he was so underfed he weighed 45 pounds and stood 27 inches at the shoulder, when I brought him home and he sat and stared at me and me at him the realization hit me that this was a long term commitment... 16 years later as I held Ben in my arms - all 90 pounds of him and helped him cross the rainbow bridge , I knew I had made ABSOLUTELTY the right decision , picked the best one and would never own any dog but rescue dogs. Good luck and again welcome to the group!

Congratulations. When I started this journey with Gus I got a sense that he knew I was making him feel better, and I think rescue dogs have that same sense, they know they are getting a life and love they otherwise wouldn't. I have already made up my mind when the time is right for us to get another dog, it will be a rescue, kuddos to you for giving Marley the chance to have a great life, Paws up, Spirit Gus and Dan

My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010

Welcome Marley! Chloe too is a rescue dog, however she has separation anxiety problems (fromhow she was raised by her first owners), but we are slowly working through them. I love her to death though and I think between dealing with her amputation and separation anxiety it is only bringing us closer together. I wouldn't change a thing!

-Chloe's mom

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog

How pawsome that you rescued Marley. Welcome to our family, and we can't wait for pictures and fun stories. We have also decided that we will rescue a couple of pups when the "Golden Years Era" is over. Hopefully and God willing, we will have Diva Chloe for many more years!
