We have unchained/rescued many dogs but recently we found a German Shepherd on a chain that had been shot.... He was on a logging chain that probably weighed about 40 lbs. The owner said he broke off of his chain and then they found him and saw that he had been shot, so they put him back on the chain... and he had been on the chain while having a gunshot wound to his right rear leg for a week. We got him surrendered to us and took him to the vet, and the only solution was to amputate... So, Diesel (the German Shepherd) is going to have his leg amputated on 3/13/13.
