Thank you :) yes I will try and get sum pics up. The vet has said it will only possibly prolong his life by approx 11 months but so far we have had an extra 3 months with him which we are so very grateful for. He is very spoilt now...and he knows it but we just appreciate him being here. Will keep you updated with his progress. Hoping to take him for a walk very soon :)

The vet can only give you statistics. Statistics are numbers representing what is 'average' in most cases. We were told we would have about 11 months as well.  We were blessed with 27 1/2 months with an already aging princess. In the end, the cancer didn't take her, complications from arthritis and aging did.

There is no time stamp on Rocky's butt.  Take advantage of every single day you are given, and if you turn out to be one of the ones who beats the statistics, that's even better!

Sending tons of good thoughts your way for many wonderful days ahead.

Congrats to Rocky and his mum for making it this far....with many more belly rubs and walks to continue the fight!  I'm so glad to hear he's doing well and is adjusting to his updated leg!  Keep up the good work, Rocky!

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Wow that is terrific! We don't often hear about successful results from limb sparing surgeries, so YAY FOR ROCKY! Thanks so much for returning to tell us what happened, I'm glad you kept it in this topic.

So he didn't have any infections or anything like that? Wow! Terrific! We would love to see some photos and any more details you care to share, this is very educational for all of us. Also, who did the surgery? If you want to include them in our "Veterinary Referrals" topic in our Forums I know that people would really appreciate it.

Congratulations, you and Rocky are rock stars!
