Hi,
I have a St. Bernard who was diagnosed with Osteo in Nov. 2015, until three/four weeks ago he was non symptomatic. Suddenly the paw is HUGE. We did x-rays, no broken bones, saw the oncologist, there is metastatic cancer in the lymph nodes, but it seems like something else. We are growing a culture looking for an additional infection.
Has anyone ever seen secondary cancer from Osteo present itself in this manner?

Nancy, first of all, that is INCREDIBLE that ANDY has kicked butt for so long! Congrats! 
I know you must be worried about his paw but that's great you're already trying to address the issue with your vet. It sounds like they are confident that it's not a secondary cancer since they are growing a culture. That's super promising.
Honestly I can't recall a secondary cancer in a member that presented itself this way. I could be wrong, but right now I'm confident that this isn't familiar.
Try not to let your mind think the worst right now, just take things one hop at a time until you know what you're dealing with. I know it's so hard. How long until the culture comes back?
