Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
I heard from the vet about two hours ago and she came out of surgery just fine. He said everything went great. They had to put a drainage tub in at the suture point and that will stay overnight. I will be able to pick her up tomorrow afternoon. I know tomorrow will be difficult when I see her for the first time, but I will be ready to get her home.

Very happy Kasey's surgery went well....just remember when you see her tomorrow, to act normal, excited to see her, and don't treat her any differently. It was hard for me at first, too, but I got through it really well once I saw my Polly's excitement to see me.
Best wishes for you and her on your new journey!

I picked Kasey up from the vet about two hours ago. The vet tech said she is doing wonderful. The vet had got called out for an emergency. They gave me her pain meds and instructions for activity. She said no strenuous activity, but let her do some movement around the house. I got her home, she sniffed the other dogs, let them sniff her, drank some water and then before I could stop her she went up the stairs with no problem. I was amazed by this and won't let her do it again for a few days, but she did it without me knowing and I couldn't yell at her for doing it.
She is now sleeping on her doggie bed with her favorite blanket. The vet wrapped the amputation site with bandages and a wrap so it makes it a little easier b/c I can't see the site. I know it will really hurt when he takes the wrap off. I go back in on Thursday for him to change the wrap.
