I must admit that I am at a loss for words at this moment. This seems so unfair and I am sorry very sorry for the pain that you must be feeling. I hope that your remaining time is filled with much love and all the wonderful memories in the world. Please know that you are in our thoughts and our hearts during this difficult time.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I am so very sorry to hear this. Cancer is so unfair. I hope your remaining time together, as short as it is, is filled with much love and special moments. Please know that we are thinking of you at this difficult time.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
I'm so sorry. Cancer really does not play fair.
You did everything you could for Ty.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Hmmm...here are instructions for adding images to your post. But if you still have trouble send me a photo and I'll be happy to post it for you.
How are you doing?

Such a handsome boy. As you said, he is running pain free now. The other heroes that went before him are showing him all the best spots. My girl will be flirting shamelessly with him.
Our pain starts when theirs ends. Take care of yourself.

I'm so sorry about the news on Ty. It hurts so badly because you care so much.
Thanks for showing us some pictures of your boy, I loved the b&w one. If it helps tell us more about him. For me talking about the good times sometimes eases the pain of the hard times.

Yes, thank you for the photos. Ty was a beautiful boy. It is obvious that you loved him very much.
Like Karen says, it hurts so badly because you loved him so much. I found talking about Magnum helped. If that helps you then please feel free to tell us more about Ty.
Take care of yourself.

Thank you for your kind words. Friday night I said goodbye to Ty. He had been spoiled rotten all week. Saturday morning I woke up crying. My boyfriend and his brother were taking him on saturday at 11 to the vet and were going to stay with him through the process. At 10:30 I receive a call from my boyfriend that they were not taking Ty because when the time arrived to take him to the vet Ty had gotten up for the first time since tuesday and walked outside to do his business. Our strong dog seems not to be ready to leave us yet. His personality has been back since then.
Isi t selfish to take this as a sign that he is not ready yet? We all feel that we will know when he is ready and it just doesnt seem like it yet. Anyone experienced this before?

You guys know Ty best- follow your hearts and watch Ty's eyes.
Maggie my little Tri-pug was battling several issues and had a huge health crash, most everyone thought she was done. I didn't think she had long, but I never felt sure she was ready. What I did then was define what her minimum life quality was, and when we crossed that line I would make the decision. For Maggie it was pain- she had a tumor in her mouth that I couldn't treat. She did not tolerate pain meds very well- actually she freaked on low doses of most pain meds, and she had kidney failure so our med choices were limited anyway. When I had to medicate to get her through the night I knew she was done. And it was clear from her too, it was in her eyes.
I hope Ty has more good days. You guys love him, trust yourselves to do the right thing for him when the time is right.
