What a sweet, precious girl you are, Luka !! And yay for peeing and pooping !! These pictures are beautiful of her!
I can't really comment on the shoulder being left on, my Polly and the vast majority of other amps had the entire leg and shoulder removed......I don't quite understand it, but I know someone here may know a bit more about it than I do, and have a reason for it.
Hoping Luka continues to do well, and her healing is quick and un-eventful ......continue to keep us updated on her, so very happy she is going so well !!

My Happy Hannah...a rear legger...no no insight on shoulder thing. But I can tell you her amp. site looks great!!! It may swell some and bruise some more, but right now it's looking good!! I think one of the things that makes their appearance a little "startling" at first is the shaved cur.....they always shave so much fur!!
I think you're spot on about her trying to use her "leg" now.....it no longer hurts!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her photos!!! That mug! OMD!!!
POOPING AND PEEING....EATING AND DRINKING....YAAAAAAAAAY!!! LUKA, YOU'RE A CHAMP!!!! And it will only get better a d better once recovery takes place!!!
Stay connected...we are right here with you!!!!
Hugs!

Wow she's making great progress! WOOOHOO!!!
Some vets leave the scapula, it just depends on their preference and where the cancer is located.
So glad you figured out how to post photos, good job!

I'm so happy for Luka...she's just a PRECIOUS pup!!!
Her pictures are just beautiful and the incision looks good. My husband and I were very careful to make sure we kept Leland's incision site good and clean. We were always cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide. And we put warm moist compresses on it 2-3 times a day (surgeon instructed us to do this) as it would help in the skin healing. We would soak a dish towel and microwave it for 60 seconds and hold it to the incision until it cooled. Leland really liked having this done.
Also, it's AWESOME that Luka has already pooped. My Leland didn't poop for 5 days after the amp surgery. Hope her recovery keeps going like this.
Sending Luka positive thoughts for a safe and speedy recovery!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
That leg must have been very painful! Eating, drinking, pee and poop- what a star!
I do think most here had the scapula removed- but as Jerry said, not all. The important thing to focus on is that the nasty, painful tumor is GONE! When I have heard of problems from front amps is when the vet leaves a little of leg attached. That little nub bangs on things and sometimes opens up a wound.
Maggie was a rear amp so I didn't have to make the scapula decision.
Congrats on figuring out posting pictures- she is a beautiful Tripawd!

Well the first night was awesome…I really thought she would be in a lot more pain and discomfort than this. She is only on antibiotics and metacam…I thought she would need tramadol too, but so far so good. I'm heaps nervous that this is too good to be true and its all going to turn to crap!!…She's no longer trying to use that leg and is getting around perfectly fine…still eating, drinking and basically just chilling like nothing's happened. Will keep you posted…hoping that this isn't a high point on a horrible roller coaster ride x
