I am sorry to hear about the mets and I think you’re right on top with your plan of action. I know I said this before and I totally don’t want to be pushy on this subject but I was wondering if you asked your vets about the bisphosphonates ? My Manni had developed a second osteosarcoma on the ribs and my vet told me that bisphosphonates wouldn’t make sense there, from his experience, but really only on „tubular“ bones, like legs. Now, different vets different opinions, as usual, but I remember thinking that if Manni hadn’t been a candidate for amputation this is a route I might have taken since it’s supposed to alleviate pain, too. So I thought I’d throw this out here again, maybe that’s worth pursuing in addition to the radiation?

all the best

So sorry to hear about the mets but happy you are doing what you can to alleviate Yogi's pain. That is really the most important thing...and I have to say I would have made the same decision were it my dog. Otis has recovered well, but it has not been without complications, so giving him pain relief without further stressing his system seems ideal. Be More Dog is hard to do but I bet Yogi will appreciate it 😊

Big hugs,

Camille & Otis

Thanks all! It feels REAL good to have a plan of action in place!

@tinsch yes, thank you for your recommendation! We are planning on pursuing the bisphosphonates ! Fingers crossed it will work nicely with the radiation for pain relief.

Yogi has his first radiation treatment tomorrow followed by a second on Friday. We are meeting with his oncologist next week and will be able to give the bisphosphonates then!
