I'm so sorry to read this.
The guilt and second-guessing are very normal. But when you make a decision based out of love, there is no wrong decision. And you most certainly based your decision out of love for Tank.
Cancer is such a dirty disease. It never, ever, plays fair. You did everything you could for Tank and gave him a better life than anybody else ever could have. In time, the guilt will subside and give way to all the wonderful memories and love you had with Tank.
David and Rocky (and Baxter now too!)
Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.
He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.
I am so sorry you had to say goodbye to your boy.
It's hard to even put into words for me, but you knew Tank better than anypawdy. You know what you've already been through, and it sounds like it was a whole lot already. Please don't second guess yourself. Most of us have walked in those shoes and none of us want to let our loved ones go, but it sounds like you did what you needed to do for him.
It also sounds like you gave Tank a wonderful life. He knew a love that many never know. No matter how long we have them it's never quite long enough. You sent him off after a beautiful Tank spoiling and you meant as much to him as he meant to you.
All of our furbabies greeted him at the bridge, and they are showing him how to jump from cloud to cloud and how to send those little signs that they are still here and watching over you, just in a different form now. There's no more pain, and they are whole again and happy.
What you did was selfless. You put Tanks needs before your own and you did what was best for him. You're decision was made out of love so there is no "wrong" here.
My heart is with you in this time of deep sadness. Sending you healing thoughts of peace.

Penny we are deeply sorry. Please please please don't blame yourself. That's not what Tank would want, ever. You did your best and nopawdy can ever predict the future. Nature can be cruel but dogs are forgiving, Tank would never hold anything against you, he was 100% pure love.
If it helps, please write a tribute in Coping with Loss, you may find it therapeutic to share more of his life with the community. Yes, we do understand this kind of grief. Please lean on us, we are here for you.

My condolences to you and your family. It is a helpless, empty feeling when there are no other options. You made a brave and selfless decision for Tank.
Remember this: none of this was your fault. This was cancer's fault.
I hope the good memories of the wonderful life Tank shared with you gives you some strength and peace in the coming days and weeks.
