Thank you all for posting about the possible link between illness, and extreme shedding! My 12 yr. old femle, long haired, English Mastiff is shedding in a very strange way (lossing down to her undercoat), and it's only the beginning of January. I noticed an increase in some shed in the past month, but this past week I noticed two huge spots where it's all the way to the undercoat. I've been searching for possible reasons online, and what your saying makes the most sense. I will definitely be calling the vet tomorrow morning for an appointment!!! Thanks again!!!!
