We got the results of Bubba's biopsy back today and it is OSA like we feared. The vet said he is the youngest dog that she has ever diagnosed. My heart is broken right now. Right now he is so full of life. I'm going to let myself grieve tonight...then tomorrow we will take charge and do whatever we can to give him a wonderful "rest of his life"
OSA is a hard diagnosis regardless of the age, but the young ones are particularly hard to accept. It isn't a death sentence, but it is life changing. No one knows how much time their pup(or kitty) will have after diagnosis. It is important to focus on making each day count. Live with Bubba each day with the purpose of making a beautiful memory.

We didn't face OSA, we had a different cancer but I did the same as you - one night of sadness and then it was back to 'fighting mode'. I am really sorry but you've gotten some good advice. Fight as hard as you can and make each day the best ever!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Wow I'm sorry. A diagnosis like this on such a young dog is just insane and tragic and makes me want to KILL CANCER!
Well, like others have said, Bubba doesn't know this news, and he doesn't care. He wants you to be hoppy and keep on giving him all the love and fun and craziness that he's used to, so no stoppin now!
I know it's hard to deal with this but you can lean on us. If it's any help at all, we've seen many dogs here who were diagnosed at a young age go on to live very long, healthy lives, like Bart for one. And quite a few others. Don't let the statistics get to you, just remember; nine out of ten are wrong!
Hugs to you both. Let us know what we can do to help you make the most of every day OK?

Tracy,
I know those words, when you actually hear them out loud, change your entire world upside down.....the "ugly c" is crap, but you can't let it rob you of any time from sweet Bubba. Yes, he is so young, and that is truly heartbreaking, but grieve for the moment, and then kick it to the gutter and enjoy everyday going forward with your guy. He will live each moment in the moment, so just let him lead, and you both will Be More Dog
. That is what is most important, just enjoy your time together, hopefully for a very long time.
We are all here for you...

Hey...what sad news to receive...my heart goes out to you & Bubba...and hugs!
No pooch or animal in fact deserves this awful diagnosis when all they bring to this world is love, affection, companionship & loyalty.
Like you said...your going to fight this...Keep strong & focus on how you can make each day better together...YOU CAN & WILL get through this!
I'm so sorry that Bubba got this diagnosis. Cancer in any form is a battle but Bubba is young and has a lot of fight and spirit in him. No way is he done with life yet!!! He has no idea what cancer is...he's just having fun getting back to his feisty self after surgery. Like is often said around here...our furkids don't have an expiration date stamped on them.
Bubba has options to continue to fight and make sure his body is rid of the cancer. Take some time to check into options and see if anything will work for Bubba. My Leland didn't have cancer but MANY here have and I'm sure they will chime in with different treatments they did from conventional to holistic.
Hang in there and lean on us for support.
Hugs
