Yesterday chikoo just 11 months old was diagnosed with bone cancer. Amputation suggested. Is there another way. How long will he live. The cancer is in the front left limb. Lungs clear. I am too worried.

Hi @chikoo & furmily, welcome. Your future posts won't need to wait for approval so post as much as you'd like now!

He is sooo young, I'm so sorry for the diagnosis. Tell us more about him. What kind of breed type is he? If the vets say he's a good candidate for surgery that's terrific.

When there's a bone cancer diagnosis, you never know how long a dog will live. Some really beat the odds for years and years, others do not. It's all a big toss up. Chemotherapy can statistically give him better odds at living longer, and immunotherapy can too. Have you seen an oncologist yet?

The best thing I can say is to not focus on the prognosis. You have to take things day by day, just like Chikoo, and make the most of your time together. It's a powerful lesson and one that we humans are not very good at doing, but Chikoo can show you the way. He's a great teacher!

Tell us more about him and the situation, we are here to help.
