Had my consultation/evaluation at Metropolitan Veterinary  Hospital in Akron today with Dr. Gamblin an oncologist for my Fuzz (feline).  Fuzz was given a thorough exam and work up including biopsy of mass, multiple views/xrays, full chemistry panels and blood work and all will be reviewed by surgeons and other specialists to determine course of treatment.  Dr. Gamblin was so thorough and very nice.  The mass is growing on/over the entire right scapula and per x-rays shows some fuzzy edges all around which may not result in a complete amputation- was explained to me in cats with this mass causing so much damage to entire area it may not be possible to get all the tumor being so close to chest wall and as a result that leaves a 'contaminated chest wound still containing cancer'  So I am awaiting the results and advice from all that will review all the testing done today to proceed.  Fuzz was also diagnosed with a heart murmur today but X-rays showed heart appearing at large end of normal per oncologist view of X-ray and no sign that cancer has spread anywhere in his chest cavity/lungs/rest of body but again specialists will look and read all tests and determine how/what way is best to proceed considering every factor. Today we were sent home with gabapentin for help with pain. Fuzz was a trooper and even the Dr. commented what a laid back cat he is while being poked, prodded and rubbed all over during physical exam. I am so thankful to have found this board and members.  I feel better finding medical staff who specialize in treatment of diseases instead of my local vet just saying lets amputate with no further testing/biopsy/etc.  This hospital is amazing and even walking in I was in awe of the practice and how we were treated.  Fuzz was only cat present today amongst about 10 dogs that were there during my time, but if you only knew this cat, he grew up with 2 labradors and truly believes he is a dog!
