Oh my gosh Farley's backstory made me cry! You guys are wonderful humans for giving him such a great life and helping him the way you have, thank you.

Good luck today! I know it's enough to make your head spin but everything happens for a reason and all will be fine. Your plan after the amp sounds fine.

Keep us posted!!! Oh and there's never TMI here at Tripawds, we are here to discuss the entire journey, smelly tumors and all. xoxo

Now you've. made a decision and you are starting the road to recovery and that's wonderful relief for you!

And yes, make no mistake about it, the first few days or more can be very rough ....or not......but we are ALL here for you and there are probably very few issues that someone here hasn't experienced so you reach out anytime!!

I think I would have completely lost it if I didn't have the support of so many on this site:-) :-) You cry, scream ,tremble with fear for now.....but when you get Farley home you are going to be so happy when you see his sparkle come back as he adjusts to a pain free life:-) :-)

The computer smart people will guid you to the right "threads" about how to prepare for life with a tripawd, rugs for traction , etc. Guess the vet is keeping Farley overnight so you sleep as. Such as you can tonight. When he comes home just look into his eyes and know all is well:-) :-)

Please post back as soon as you can! We are all your extended family looking forward to hearing all about is vicories:-) :-)

You and your husband are strong and caring souls and Farley is lucky to have you:-) :-)

I know this is a whirlwind- but it is in Farely's best interest to get rid of the problem leg. And he is a day closer to getting back to the happy Farley that you love.

Keep us posted on his progress.

AwwwRight!  A plan is in motion.  By the end of the week, he'll be in less pain, but also in a new sort of pain.  But, this new pain can be controlled and will be much less and continue to shrink as days go on.  Best wishes!  Keep us posted.

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Surgery went great!  Farley is in recovery now and should be able to come home tomorrow.

Now I can breathe...

Yay Farley!! So glad the surgery is all over and glad you're breathing! Get some rest tonight--everyone here will help you through this--this is a wonderful community. Keep us updated.

Joan and Lily

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.

Thanks, everyone!  Farley gets to come home Thursday evening or Friday morning.  He refused to get up for the vet last night and just wanted to sleep, but by this morning they had him up on his feet (though briefly).  They said he's still doing very well and they're just keeping him for observation at this point.

I'm planning to go by there after work and see him.  Can't wait!

Glad to hear Farley's bad leg is gone and that you will be able to take him home soon! Chloe had to stay almost 48 hours because she had a light fever post amputation and they wanted to observe her 24hrs until she had fully recovered. Then it was just a matter of teaching her to walk with 3 legs :)

Wishing Farley a smooth and uneventful recovery!

-Chloe's mom

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
