Okay so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. Basically, I need some help. I don't feel like Eva has very big paws, in fact we've always been surprised how skinny her legs are and how small her paws are. Anyways, I wanna get her boots. Measured her feet at the vet with a caliper but like, her feet are WAY bigger than even the biggest size available and I know that's impossible because her feet are the same size (slightly smaller actually) than my five month old puppy's.... I need help!!!
Am I measuring wrong? Is Eva just shaped funny? Agh.
Hmmm... if you're considering Ruffwear Boots, here is their official dog boots sizing chart and fit guide—with more information and purchase link in this Tripawds Gear blog post.
Hope that helps!

when I use that though like, eva's foot is an entire inch bigger than the biggest measurement.... but i know for a fact she does not have super gigantic feet so i dont understand, are the boots just generally made for smaller dogs?

No, we've had various Great Dane customers and Tazzie was a 175lb Mastiff who wore a Skyliner boot on her front paw.

When I measured Murphy for the pawz boots, I got his foot wet and had him step on a piece of paper so that I could measure the wet footprint. I think he wears the medium ones, but they aren't for long-term wearing, just once in awhile use, like when we go out to MSU. Maybe you could try that way?

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

A quick search of images shows that calipers tend to measure in centimeters, not inches. So that could be why the number seems larger than it should be. No way would a pittie foot be larger than an XL bootie size.

HAHAHAHAHHA I had the vet tech do it, and she's the one that pulled out the caliper and told me "4.25 inches" hHAHAHA oh my god when we go in tuesday I'll have to look at the caliper and read it hahahahahahhahaha oh man that is too good. Much appreciated help because I thought I was doing this right!!!
and as far as the pittie foot being too big, that's what i've been saying this whole time! even as far as pits go, i feel like eva's feet are so teeny, so I can't imagine them being "too big" for literally anything.

The wet footprint idea is so smart! I also just want them for going to slippery places or when she insists on going into the rocky water at Elizabeth Park cos of all of the slippery rocks. She always did it fine on four legs but on three she gets nervous and wants to lay down.
Thank you guys all so much now I know not to give up on my boots! haha!
Have you tried Ruffwear's recommended dog boot measurement method...
