My cat Max is almost 10 and had his back leg amputated three weeks ago. He has a little healing left toward the bottom of his incision so cone has to stay on. He is a normal groomer & is fed up with the dog crate at night (cried incessantly through the night). He wants to sleep in my bed but hasn’t learned to go down steps or the foam block stairs I bought.

Any suggestions on training?

Hi Kim! I hope you don't mind I moved your post here but I didn't want to get lost in the other member's thread.

Max sounds like he's got a lot of spunk and is doing pretty well! Have you tried training with some reallllly tempting food to get him to use the blocks and stairs? Or, maybe put your bed against the wall and block off all areas (maybe big pieces of cardboard as blockades?) except where the stairs are, at least until he figures out how to use them.

Some animals will take longer than others to figure it out but he will get there in time. It's just a matter of finding the right bribe to get him to use the new furniture.
