Hello all!
My boy Corbett had his front left leg amputated due to osteosarcoma back in March. He’s a very tall, 62lb poodle/lab mix. Within the past month or so he has been having pain in his remaining front leg. He is on Previcox and Gabapebtin, which helped for for a few weeks, but he’s back to being in pain. He will wake up and let out a loud cry/whimper when trying to get up. His remaining front shoulder twitches and shakes when you try to touch it. Has anyone experienced this with any luck in remedying?
Thank you all so much!
Sarah
Hi Sarah and Corbett, welcome. Your future posts won't need to wait for approval so post away.
I'm sorry he's having mobility issues. It sounds like your vet has seen him and prescribed the medications. What is the dosage for the Gabapentin? His dosage might need to be bumped up but don't do it without asking your vet. Give them a call to ask.
What do you think brought on the pain? And what might be the cause of it returning? Many times, new Tripawds do too much, too soon, for their capabilities. What's an average day like for him?
If Corbett hasn't seen a rehab therapist yet, please take advantage of the Tripawds Foundation Rehab Reimbursement Program, which can pay for your first rehab visit . These folks are who you want for determining the cause of pain, and they can partner with your vet to find out why Corbett is hurting.
