our sweet rayna is 13 days post op from her amputation. She is amazing at how well she is getting around, we are absolutely impressed with her! She was on 300 mg of gabapentin 3 times a day and last Friday was knocked back to twice a day. The last few days she has only been getting it once. She's been taking no other medication for pain as she seemed to be doing really well. About 2 days ago we noticed some more laboring in breathing, it's like when they are panting heavily but keeping their mouths shut and dealing with it type of heavy breathing. I tried to give her 2 tramadol today just to see if it was a discomfort thing- I think she got about 1.5 as she is so smart and gets around them.
anyone else experience any breathing issues or anything similar. We will try the gabapentin again tonight as maybe it is related to pain and discomfort. We have an appointment on Friday with her holistic doctor and will have acupuncture and whatever else he suggests.
Thanks all in advance for the advice and support- I have found this site and everyone here so helpful in coping and treating our tripawd!

Thanks for starting a new topic all about Rayna! I offered some suggestions in your old post here.
Our own experience was that Jerry would pant a lot more at night, it seemed that the day's activities caught up with him then. I agree with your idea to limit her activity some more, it's still early on.
Let us know how she is doing with the gabapentin timing adjustment and don't forget to share some photos, we can't wait to see her! And I'm so glad she's getting the acupuncture treatments, that's awesome.
