Hi @buffy3! Good question, hopefully someone will chime in. Can I ask why you are wondering? Are you thinking of one for your Tripawd?
Our Wyatt Ray is a rear-leg amputee who doesn't have enough remaining limb for a prosthetic. Otherwise we would have definitely gone that route.

We are checking into whether or not someone can make a prosthetic leg for her. She is soon to be 8 years old and has been a tripawd for 6 1/2 of those years. It's beginning to take a toll on her body. She needs support in the back end and I don't think she's quite ready for wheels yet. There is a human prosthetic company in our town that is very interested in seeing what they can do. We're just waiting to hear back. I didn't know if someone had experience with a prosthetic leg for their dog what the pros/cons were for the dog. Plus I don't know how quickly and how well dogs adapt to an artificial leg. Lots of questions. This is only a start for us. Thanks for any suggestions.

Tripawd Leg Brace and Wheel Chair Dos and Dont’s
Before you consult with any kind of prosthesis maker, please have her evaluated by a canine rehabilitation therapist. A brace and proper exercise may be all she needs right now. As a bonus, the Tripawds Foundation may even pay for your first rehab visit !
We are going through a similar situation with our Wyatt Ray , who is now almost 10 (he's been a Tripawd since 8 months old), so I can totally relate to the issues you are probably seeing.

My dog Taylor is, I'm assuming, in a similar boat as Wyatt Ray as she is a rear amputated tripawd with a small stump left. I guess my question is what are the options if she doesn't have enough leg left for a prosthetic? She get's around for the most part just fine, but she is getting older (almost 8 years old) and I live on the third floor of an apartment building without an elevator. How are you going about looking into helping your dog?
